Various Resources for Inmates and Families

Prison is tough on inmates, but it can be just as tough for those left at home. Loneliness, social rejection, and financial strains can weigh you down and make you feel like you’re the one serving the time. You don’t have to face this time alone. Here are a few places for inmates and their families to turn:

Recovery and Re-entry Resources: If you look to the right of this page you’ll see many ministries that are actively involved in helping inmates make the transition into society, navigate sobriety and step up as husbands, fathers and employees. All are based on a solid Christian foundation.

Angel Tree: Prison Fellowship’s Angel Tree ministry serves the children of prisoners by giving them gifts on behalf of their incarcerated parents and by surrounding them all year long with a loving community. Prisoner Pen Pals: You could reach out to other inmates by becoming a pen pal. Contact CLPRM to become part of this ministry. Or start your own pen pal ministry using the Visit Prison in an Envelope guide from Prison Fellowship. Sometimes the best way out of a dark place is to reach out with much-needed source of encouragement and friendship to a lonely prisoner. This simple guide explains how to find a prisoner pen pal, how to write letters of encouragement and discipleship, and how to trouble-shoot typical problems that may arise.
